Supervision is a valuable way of "checking in" with an experienced practitioner. Supervision supports counsellors and ensures they stay grounded, maintain professional and ethical boundaries, develop their knowledge, both theoretically and practically, as well as focus on self-care to avoid "burnout".
Supervision is fundamental to the provision of safe, ethical and competent counselling. (NCS, 2021)
As a guideline the NCS and BACP recommend 1.5 hours of supervision per month.
A counsellor’s level of experience and/or they type of work they are engaging with may affect how much supervision is required.
Concerns about any aspect of the counselling work being carried out should be brought to supervision where further support, understanding and advice can be sought.
Combining humanistic, creative and practical approaches, Creative Supervision gives a fresh new perspective which can inspire supervisees and contribute to really great client-centred work.
I encourage the use of metaphors and images as well as the use of creative equipment and tools such as sand trays and 'doodling' to enrich theoretical knowledge and improve our understanding of the processes of therapy.
In Creative Supervision we also use techniques drawn from expressive therapies, psychodrama techniques aswell as art therapies to support the wellbeing of the Supervisee and their professional work with clients.
Supervision is a new and exciting addition to my practice and I really welcome anyone looking for a Supervisor to get in touch.
I'm happy to chat about your needs either by phone or in person before you sign up with me.
Supervision is charged at £50 per hour or £65 for 1.5 hours.
Bookable and paid online - just contact me to get started.
Supervision is held at my office within The Innovation Centre in Redcar or offered online via Zoom.
I understand Counsellors don't necessarily come into this career to be 'business people'. As a Counsellor, you'll have trained extensively to best support your clients but may feel in the dark about business matters.
You may be looking for a Supervisor that understands both of these worlds and can help you navigate between them.
This is where I can help!
I have owned and run businesses for over 15 years and am a self-confessed business GEEK! I currently have 2 very successful businesses and I am the founding director of a newly limited company which I love!
During my career I have gained multiple business qualifications alongside both of my Counselling degrees.
I've been working in Private Practice since qualifying in 2017, finally taking the plunge and going full-time over 3 years ago. In this time I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding the 'ins and outs' of running a therapy business.
I am extremely passionate about helping other counselling professionals succeed in their careers too. I believe that running a healthy business not only supports you and your livelihood but is also extremely beneficial to the clients you are supporting too.
