Previous life experiences can damage your perception of yourself, which can affect your attitudes, emotions and your ability to deal with certain situations.
My approach focuses on you as a whole.
It encourages you to think about your own feelings and take responsibility for you thoughts and actions.
I help you process and heal from trauma, hurt, pain, loss and negative experiences.
The emphasis is on working through what's bothering you at your own pace.
We steadily build your self-awareness, add phases of self-development and also eventually look at what you'd like from your future.
Counselling and Psychotherapy include a range of talking therapies and interventions used to treat emotional problems and mental health issues.
CBT aims to help you change the way you think (cognitive) and what you do (behaviour).
Rather than looking at past causes, CBT focuses on current problems and practical solutions to help you feel better now.
The way we think about situations affects the way we feel and behave. If we view a situation negatively, we may experience negative emotions and feelings which lead us to behave in an unhelpful way.
I will help you identify and challenge any negative thinking so you can deal with situations better and behave in a more positive way
CBT can be helpful for depression, anxiety, stress, phobias, obsessions, eating disorders and managing long term conditions.
TA can help you understand how you interact with others. We also look at how your beliefs and the way you interpret the world can create recurrent and problematic patterns of behaviour.
I will work with you to help those patterns change.
Throughout therapy, we work directly on problem-solving behaviours, whilst helping to develop day-to-day tools for finding constructive, creative solutions. The ultimate goal is to ensure clients regain absolute autonomy over their lives.
Transactional analysis is a comprehensive approach which incorporates aspects of humanistic, cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic therapy.
Creative therapy includes a wide range of techniques which can help you find a way of expressing yourself beyond words or traditional talking therapies.
Often creative works makes the most powerful impact because it works with feelings we just can't or don't have words for.
The right interventions can tap deeply into the subconscious and can bring about profound light bulb moments and incredible insight.
It can include visual arts therapy, writing, sand play, music therapy, narrative work, journalling, figurines, metaphor and imagery.
We may use different approaches together at different times to suit your needs.

Sometimes I hear...
"I don't need counselling, I'm just abit stuck"
This is where coaching can really help!
I use a variety of tried and tested therapeutic techniques to bring about solution focussed, future thinking and insight giving you a chance to really get your mojo back and get going again!
I am now offering Supervision to qualified Counsellors via Zoom or face-to-face at my office.
Supervision is 90 minutes unless otherwise arranged.
Fundamental to the provision of safe, ethical and competent counselling, supervision is vital to the practice and development of counsellors and is a requirement for those who are registered practitioners.
Working with a counselling supervisor ensures you stay grounded, maintain professional and ethical boundaries and are regularly practising self-care. A supervisor offers support, allowing you to develop your knowledge theoretically and practically.
I offer creative supervision that includes the use of sandtray, elements of psychodrama and art therapies.
Please get in touch if you are interested in arranging Supervision sessions with me.
This is a great option for those with any particular accessibility needs, those that prefer the comfort of their own surroundings, cannot leave their house for personal or practical reasons and also for those wanting therapy with me but live too far away.
Online therapy is also offered as a 'back-up' for my face-to-face clients in times of bad weather, car troubles, injury/illness and when they are away travelling.
I use Zoom which is secure and confidential.
You will need access to a computer and a good internet connection in a private space where we will not be disturbed for your hour of therapy.
Exactly what the name suggests - this is your hour of therapy outdoors in nature, walking and talking at your own pace.
This type of session is especially helpful if you're normally stuck inside all day, feel trapped at times or prefer being out in nature and fresh air. Walking has many proven benefits and when coupled with therapeutic interventions can bring about great insight, release tension and promote better psychological wellbeing.
This type of therapy requires more consideration in terms of sessions being held in less confidential surroundings, public spaces and also in potentially poor weather conditions.
I have a number of set routes that are planned out especially for their therapeutic benefits and am happy to discuss this option with you if you're interested.
Creative therapy topics we've covered in previous events and workshops have included:
I also run workshops for both trainee and qualified Counsellors who want to improve or practice their counselling skills and abilities:
